The First AR Filter for Belgian Brands on TikTok Went Viral
Last year, together with KdG, we created the first AR filter “How My Next Exam Will Go” on TikTok, aimed at connecting with students during one of the most challenging times of their year.
The challenge
In June, Belgian students face the stress of final exams. To connect with them during this difficult time, we partnered with KdG to create a fun way for students to express themselves and relieve some of that stress. Our goal was to engage them in a relevant, lighthearted, and supportive way, offering a break from the pressure while staying connected to their needs and emotions.
Our approach
Seeing the popularity of AR effects on TikTok, we saw an opportunity to engage students through TikTok’s newly launched Effects House program. This was the first community effect uploaded by a brand in Belgium. To create the right effect, we analyzed student behavior on TikTok. We found that students often stress over their grades but enjoy guessing—and laughing—about their results. Tapping into the meme culture of our 18-24-year-old audience, we created 15 memes representing exam results, which were integrated into a randomized AR effect for students to interact with and share.
